We are looking for an ambitious VP Product to integrate customer voice and product vision to drive business outcomes. We are successfully operating a sales-led growth motion. Our customers are asking us to build collaboration tools to enable a three-sided network to connect company operators, professional advisers, and owners. Today, we are seeing organic lead generation through this network sharing outside of the product. We want to build product into this network dynamic to scale up generation of product qualified leads to grow even faster.

This position is open to hybrid in-office/remote work in Calgary, Alberta, or remote work options in the following time zones: EST, CST, MST and PST 


Product Vision

  • Work with CEO to develop and refine product strategy for the platform and products
  • Demonstrate confidence working with a product-forward CEO on strategy, design, and vision
  • Originate insights and concepts from customer and market data to drive product strategy
  • Consolidate vision, strategy and data to tell irresistible stories that attract customers, investors, and talent with gravitational force

Product Analytics

  • Develop systems to create scalable analytics and insights on product usage and user behaviour to support roadmap and customer success functions
  • Work with customer success teams to define user journeys, time-to-first-value pathways, and churn predictors

Product Team & Culture

  • Recruit and build strong teams that consistently execute against a solid strategy
  • Create an environment of rapid product/feature testing and iteration in collaboration with a multi-sided network of participants (legal, tax, finance, etc.) 
  • Enable the Product team to take risks, but mitigate the impact of risk on customers
  • Enable engineering teams to consistently output high quality products that connect with customer needs

Executive Engagement

  • Engage with the executive VP & CXO team to work on strategic priorities, such as long-term roadmap, customer and revenue strategy, talent planning, etc. 
  • Work with the executive on annual and multi-year strategic planning to support revenue and business metrics with Product (i.e., increase ACV, add new upsell products/features, etc.) 
  • Translate ambiguity and nascent ideas into actionable strategies and tactics

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and mentor a team of product managers, designers, and related personnel
  • Product planning and assignment of tasks and deliverables
  • Product lifecycle management from concept to launch of the product(s) across all products/product lines
  • Lead, define, represent and communicate product strategy to all stakeholders
  • Assess product development sprints and enhancement opportunities
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and metrics
  • Monitor product development sprints and evaluate results
  • Own the product roadmap and communicate with C-level staff, board members, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Marketing Managers to assess product mix and marketing strategy
  • Define pricing and competitive positioning for each product
  • Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action
  • Build incredible teams and processes to deliver products that satisfy the needs of customers
  • Become the key evangelist of Athennian and participate in press activities, conferences, discussions with thought leaders and market analysts


  • B.S. and an advanced degree in a technical field required
  • 10+ years of experience as a product leader
  • Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to craft go-to-market strategies and campaigns in collaboration with marketing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational issues with (portfolio management, risk management, etc.)
  • Ability to formulate and implement global strategies for products
  • Customer-centric mindset with the capability of translating that into the product development process
  • Successfully implemented data-driven processes to turn a vision into an actionable roadmap
  • People leader with demonstrated success in leading and mentoring the research, design, and development team
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Understand the user experience and design
  • Direct experience with digital management software or workplace collaboration software is desired
  • Able to distill product roadmaps into digestible and relevant presentations to key customers and partners
  • Drive product analytics to understand feature usage, comprehension, and optimization
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
