Under the direction of the Senior Practice & Client Solutions Manager, the Client Resource Attorney works with practice groups, clients, and other Knowledge & Innovation team members, to encourage the efficient and cost-effective practice of law by facilitating the creation of a collaborative knowledge-sharing culture. To this end, the Client Resource Attorney is engaged in developing innovative systems and processes that further our client’s experience and provides centralized access to resources and work product.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains client specific/client facing resources and repositories that house work product, matter data, and other key resources.
  • Develops and manages taxonomies, database architectures and recommends best practices and governance policies to maintain and continually improve systems.
  • Tracks matter statuses so as to request, maintain and organize key data and documents for clients in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with matter teams and K&I team members on creating innovative solutions to streamline the management of certain engagements, taking advantage of client extranets, project management principals, automation, artificial intelligence tools, no-code application builders and data analytics platforms.
  • Responds to lawyer and client precedent requests to locate resources and precedent, using internal and external systems.
  • Suggests and implements improvements to the information-gathering processes (best practices) and the organization and dissemination of information for, the client and practice resources - for this purpose, attends practice group meetings, engages with attorneys and the client.
  • Works on other K&I indicatives and projects as assigned. Collaborate with other Client Resource and Knowledge Management Attorney to share ideas and identify projects or opportunities that would benefit from cross-practice collaboration.
  • Trains lawyers on how to access and leverage knowledge and efficiency tools introduced in the practice. Draft and maintain corresponding training materials and guides.
  • Collaborates with practice group leaders and other attorneys to design effective workflow systems and processes which meet the practice group's needs and priorities, and establishes relationships with attorneys and the client to promote awareness and adoption of innovation initiatives.
  • Continuously evaluates systems that collect and track matter experience to ensure that data collection is strategically aligned with lawyer and client expectations regarding insights needed for future transactions.
  • Participates in industry events and monitor trends and in legal technology and knowledge management.
  • Drafts and disseminates communications or status reports to lawyers and the client.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: J.D required along with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant legal experience in a practice or research role.

Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of corporate transactions and detailed knowledge of form and content of corresponding documents in order to communicate effectively with lawyers.
  • A keen understanding of new technological advancements, how they are being applied across the legal industry.
  •  Ability to analyze issues and problems systematically, gathering broad and balanced input, drawing sound conclusions and translating conclusions into timely decisions and actions
  • Work effectively as change agent by presenting guidelines, standards and processes in communications that resonate with lawyers as to the value and importance of adopting new methods of practice.
  • Ability to create a project plan, set deadlines, delegate responsibilities and see a project through to its conclusion
  • Strong understanding of knowledge management principles, technology and best-practices.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to prepare written memoranda and correspondence.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

Attendance Requirements: On site during normal working hours and available when necessary before or after normal working hours in order to meet the demands of the job and the needs of the firm.
