The position
Jus Mundi is looking for its General Counsel! You will report directly to the CEO and be involved in the governance of the company. You will be based ideally in NY or in Paris. You will be required to travel between the two.

We expect you to think and build from scratch the legal direction of the company, both from an external point of view (corporate, commercial, IP/IT, data protection, etc.), as well as from an external point of view (legal policy of collection and processing, including anonymization, of global legal data).

We are looking for someone who can represent the company to the outside world, carrying its voice in the global legal community, especially the General Counsel of the world’s largest companies who are also prospects or clients of Jus Mundi.

Your Missions
As the company’ General Counsel, you will:

• Be involved in the definition and execution of the company’s governance.
• Lead any legal topic relating to contracts, corporate, IP/IT, data protection and other relevant legal matters.
• Plan and implement our IP (trademark, copyright, and sui generis database rights) and data protection strategy.
• Draft and update contract templates (General & specific T&C, IT services agreements, partnerships, NDA, …) and improve our contracting processes and policies.
• Collaborate with the team to evolve the legal function by identifying opportunities to centralize knowledge and create processes with a technology-first, enablement-first approach.
• Monitor and provide guidance on the latest regulatory & legal developments to ensure the company’s compliance with the issues that may impact us, including finance, governance, data protection, etc.
• Manage and follow up relationships with external counsel.
• Be responsible for building the legal team as the company grows.
• Publicly represents and speak on behalf of the company as its General Counsel.
• Establish close relationships with other leading General Counsel worldwide.

Experience
6+ years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, in an international environment. Previous experience in the early days of a fast-growing tech company is a big plus.

Deep knowledge of and experience with corporate and commercial law, IP/IT law and data protection in French and US law. Bar qualification is a plus.

Languages
Fluent in English and French (both written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is a plus.

Education
Master 2 or equivalent (JD) degree in law.
